I’d like to get in the habit of recording the press I receive as blog posts even if I mention it at other places on my site. That way, I can remember things chronologically if need be.

I worked my butt off to promote the soft release of “Trouble! A Calamity Adventure” on the Open-Door Playhouse podcast. Although we had released it before, it was at the very beginning of the pandemic, and I don’t think it got the attention I would have liked for it to get. I got us an ad and a review in NoHo Arts. I hired a publicist, who got us an article in Broadway World. I think he also tipped the scales for us to appear on the Chris Collins Show. To prepare for our Chris Collins interview, I made a trailer for Chris to show at the beginning of the broadcast:

How do you get a Millennial shock jock to give a clean interview? Talk to him about radio plays, a topic which apparently fascinates him! The worst word he used was “bosoms,” which, to be fair, does get used in the original script. He mentioned that a radio play recently bumped Joe Rogan out of the #1 spot on the Spotify podcast rankings, and so he sees a future for this kind of thing. He also said we’re the only band he’s aware of who acts in our own musical, and thus, we may have created a new genre of show. Nisha Catron names it “Calamitization”…

Now what? I posted in several facebook groups asking folks for their opinions on how to promote a radio play, and someone suggested getting it on the actual radio. I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me before; I guess it seemed too far-fetched. Besides, why bother with the radio when podcasts are a thing? Nevertheless, I may give it a try. I’m also going to look into submitting this for podcast awards. It’s a damn good show, and I’d like for more people to hear it!
