Here is the transcription of my most recent video blog:

(And here’s the audio on AnchorFM)

BY THE WAY – turns out tickets to my new show ARE on sale! Click HERE to get yours!

Hey everybody, this is Queen Mab, and I am moved by the spirit to make a video. I know it’s been quite some time. I have been really busy with just a lot of administrative things including but not limited to buying a new car and selling the old one, and so I just did not have the spoons to be making videos regularly. So I’m sorry about that, but there’s plenty of other crap on the Internet to watch, so I’m sure that most of you were not that upset about it.

Anyway, I am making this video to let you know that I probably still will not be posting regularly because I am in get down mode for working on my new show, “Thank You, It’s True!” which is going to premiere at Tucson Fringe on January 13 at 6:30pm Mountain Time, and I will let you know as soon as tickets go on sale for that. It’s going to be performed on Zoom, so you can watch it from anywhere, which is pretty cool.

Now, here’s the situation: I have written the book. I have written the lyrics for the songs. But the songs are not done. And there’s gonna be a lot of work to get them done and then get it recorded so that we can perform it on Zoom without any latency or sound delay issues. Oh, my friend just sent me a text! Crap! Okay, well, whatever…I’ll answer that later.

Anyways…(that’s the fun part about recording on your phone)…I’m making this video to let you know I’ll be busy and also to remind myself of why I am working on this musical even though I am so tired. I literally have not had a break since Hollywood Fringe ended. And some of that is my fault. I think I jumped on the video blogging bandwagon to kind of…use all the disappointment I felt about how my show did at Hollywood Fringe as fuel to get me to engage more with social media.

But you know, I’m really struggling with why am I writing this show. And the reason that I’m doing it is because I need to metabolize a bad experience. This show is all about a female self-help guru who takes advantage of an unwitting, naive woman in her mid-thirties who’s trying to figure out life. Now, I like to think I’m not quite as naive as the character in the show. I am not a character in the show (for a change!), but there are definitely aspects of it that are autobiographical, and it’s just very, very important to me to take that bad experience and turn it into something fun and entertaining.

So I kind of regret signing up to do a festival that’s coming so soon, but I’ve also learned that the only way to get myself to do something is to – as Jessica Lynn Johnson says – put a stake in the ground and say, “Okay, I’m doing it.”

So, anyway…I hope that I will see you virtually on January 13. I probably will make a video before then. I just…it’s not gonna be as regular as it was, obviously. So…I guess that’s it. Thanks so much for tuning in. I hope this is at least semi-coherent. And if you’d like to know more about what I do, as always, you can visit queenmabmusic.com. See you later…bye!
